Reach People Through Photos

It’s Summer time.  Some of us are busy with vacations and outdoor activities. Others are busy with kids’, teens’ or grandkids’ activities. Busy or not, is there someone out there you’ve been thinking about?  This could be a chance to strengthen an already existing relationship or a chance to reach out to a connection from your past.

I bet you have a box, bag or disk of photos you haven’t looked at in a while.   How about one day or evening, pulling out that bag, box or laptop and just start randomly looking through the photos. Does one photo in particular grab you? Do you think: “Wow, I wonder what happened to him?”  Or: “I haven’t talked with her in forever, wonder what she is up to?” Maybe you are estranged from someone and would love to reconnect but don’t know how to begin. Here are some ideas.

Take that photo you found and scan it so that it can easily be emailed.  Or make a copy of it to be able to send via snail mail.  How about adding a note saying something like:  “Found this photo and it made me think of you.  How the heck are you?  If you are ever near (name your home town), would love to catch up.”

If you are feeling a little more adventurous, how about completing a photo album honoring someone or something important in your life? Like celebrating a partnership (marriage, work, sport). Do you have a pile of about 50-60 pictures that you would love to do something with but you don’t know how to get started? Maybe you don’t want the project to be too labor intensive. I know an easy way to do that.

My personal favorite is the 13x9 Expandable Picfolio Photo Album (slide in album) made by Creative Memories. Within a couple of hours, you could have a completed album celebrating that relationship or event. You simply slide the pictures in and you can even purchase cool photo accents to give it some flair and write some of your thoughts to go with the pictures. For more info, check out www.mycmsite.com/fdurivage and search picfolio albums.

Who knows?  By summer’s end you may have caught up with that old friend or fortified a current friendship. I’ve got two people in mind. How about you?

I love adding photos to notes and cards I send in the mail. I've included pics in the mail I send to the kids while at camp. It's nice to add one to a thank you note. Even electronically! People love receiving photos they have not seen in a long time. Even better is when its a picture you have never shared! Thanks for the reminder to reach out...
